首屆世界12強棒球賽昨天出現第一場延長賽，波多黎各與古巴之役，兩隊纏鬥到10局下進入突破僵局制，古巴靠著桑托亞擊出再見滾地球，讓隊友跑回致勝分，最終以8比7險勝，拿下2連勝。

古巴隊前5局以5比2領先，效力日職羅德隊的4棒主炮德斯潘耶還擊出本屆賽事個人首轟，8局結束時古巴還以7比2領先。

但波多黎各隊展現韌性，9局上先以連續安打打回2分，2人出局情況下，索恩擊出3分炮追平，把比賽逼入延長賽，可惜最後波隊仍反攻無力，苦吞2連敗。

古巴隊陣中的古利爾三兄弟昨同場先發，三人共擊出4支安打；古巴隊總教練梅沙賽後表示：「這是古巴史上第一次派古利爾三兄弟同場先發，這是一場精彩比賽，我們都派最好投手出來投。」

對於古巴隊在延長賽突破僵局制，仍讓主炮德斯潘耶選擇以正常方式揮擊，而不用短打先推進一、二壘跑者，穩定搶分。梅沙說：「我們不喜歡短打，希望把跑者全部送回來，我們對4棒打者德斯潘耶有信心。」

古巴隊明天將出戰中華隊，梅沙認為中華隊攻守都很好，目前戰略還沒有計畫，口風很緊。
